Bees and bee products are popular and essential. Sadly they are an endangered species. Due to global warming, insecticides, and lack of foliage all kinds of bee species are starting to disappear. How can we take care of them so they can take care of us?
We all agreed on a few things: We love bees and agree that bees are very important. We need to save them. Everyone uses and loves bee products. And last but not least, everyone wants to support their local beekeepers and learn how to help the bees.

With the information gathered I created a 30-year-old Father that needs and loves bee products. His two children represent the future that will one day take care of the bee population and needs to be educated about the importance of bees and how to help them thrive.
Meet Paul Smith!
The roadmap below shows the features apis will have. Two of these features will be the backbone of this product. First will be a product page for self-care made by bees. A complementary second will be the educational page, which will be about bee care and keeping our fuzzy friends thriving.
This sitemap divides apis into shopping and education and then divides them into secondary categories. The shopping section is all-natural bee products that have been humanly sourced and made for our self-care. The education side, on the other hand, is a place where you can learn things to do and not do to keep your bees thriving, also you can contact, and meet your local beekeepers so you can, buy local products, help, volunteer, and or learn.
With two main features, comes two main task flows. The first task is to shop and purchase a specific product and the second task is to find your local beekeeper.
It only seems natural that with the duality of this product I should also make the UI dual. I wanted the two main aspects of this product to be attached and play off one another like a yin yang
Without bees, we would not have these products. This other half and complementary section are to educate ourselves and help the bees. The "Bee Care" page will include a way to find your local beekeepers and also some educational content on how to take care of the bee population.
Now that we have our first version of our high fidelity let's test it and see what the user thinks.
First I asked my participants to shop for a specific product. They had to find the product, add it to the cart, and finally purchase it.
The second flow I asked my participants to complete was to find their local beekeeper. The user had to find this section and share their zip code.
Other than a few UI, and design components that the participants weren’t happy with, everyone seemed to like the overall aesthetic and were able to finish the task flows given in a short amount of time. The user’s input and feedback gave me great advice and insight into what needed to change and what was working.
If you click below you can see my usability test results including the feedback and suggestions that shape and improve apis. I am very thankful to my participants because they improved this product and helped me grow as a UX/UI designer.
My Future plans for this product are to keep testing, empathizing, and implementing. with this, the UI kit below will improve and expand.
